Nairn ( 6 miles away )

Enjoy a visit to Nairn.  Fantastic sandy beach (Beach Award 2008) with a playground, an outdoor paddling pool, mini-golf and the Links Tea Room  open in the summer.  Various events are held every year -  Nairn Highland Games, Nairn Jazz Festival, Nairn Show  and new for this year the Ballerina Ballroom Film Festival.

Loch Ness & Urquhart Castle ( 29 miles away )

The magnificently situated Urquhart Castle, on the banks of Loch Ness, was once one of Scotland’s most important medieval strongholds. Loch Ness is said to be home to the world-famous monster, Nessie, first sighted in the 6th century.  Take a trip down Loch Ness on a Jacobite Cruise.

Aviemore and the Cairngorms

At the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Aviemore offers a range of activities including snowboarding, water sports, fishing, rock climbing and walking. The other attractions in the area are the Landmark Centre for children and the Wildlife Park.

Culloden Battlefield ( 5 miles away )

The Battle of Culloden (1746) was the last battle to be fought on mainland Britain, which brought the Jacobite cause to a decisive defeat. The visitor centre offers audio visual presentation on the story of Culloden and a fascinating Jacobite exhibition with weapons and artefacts of the period.

Fort George ( 5 miles away )

"Following the 1746 defeat at Culloden of Bonnie Prince Charlie, George II created the ultimate defence against further Jacobite unrest.  The result, Fort George, is the mightiest artillery fortification in Britain, if not Europe."

Cawdor Castle & Gardens ( 3 miles away )

Clava Cairns ( 6 miles away )

This "well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves, ring cairns, kerb cairn and standing stones" lies in a beautiful setting only a mile to the south of Culloden Battlefield. It dates back to 2000BC.

Whisky Distilleries and Local Brewery

The closest distilleries are the Benromach Distillery and Dallas Dhu Historic Distillery, Forres.  They both offer tours of their distillery as well as tasting. Dolphin Watching

Many of our guests have enjoyed watching Bottlenose Dolphins from Chanonry Point on the Black Isle.  Dolphins have also been seen from Fort George and the North Kessock Vistor Centre.  There are many tour companies in the Inverness and Nairn areas offering dolphin tours such as Phoenix Dolphin Trips (Nairn). Dolphin Trips (Avoch) and Ecoventures, Cromarty.

Horse Riding

The nearest horse riding centre is at Logie Farm, Glenferness, Nairnshire, Telephone 01309 651226.  It's situated next to the Findhorn River, 10 miles from Nairn.  Open all year, everyday from 9am to 5pm.
